| I am curious how important to you girls WHO (which actor/actors) are in a film... I am asking because my partner is totally indifferent to actors, he can't even identify many of the very famous actors. (Ok, he does recognize a few of the MOST famous, beautiful actRESSES, like Nicole Kidman or Scarlett Johansson...) He just chooses what film to watch quite randomly, and doesn't really care who is playing who. I on the other hand it is one of the most important factor to see who is/are in the film when I am deciding which film to watch. Because feeling connected to the protagonists is essential to the enjoyment of a film IMO, and this is impossible with some actors I dislike. There are actors who annoy me so much just looking at (like Tom Cruise and Nicolas Cage etc.), and even if it is supposed to be a very good film I can't stand it when they are in it. On the other hand there are actors (to me like Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Jean Reno etc.) who lifts the value of a film just by their presences, even if it is otherwise an entirely mediocre film and make it enjoyable and interesting. So to you guys, does the actor in a film play an important factor, or it doesn't really matter?

| To me it's important, cast,I mean,I want to see actors whom I like, but,of course, there are many films which I will not watch becouse it's not interesting to me and my favorites presence doesn't help much here. | |

| It really depends on my mood really. I can watch a movie for the story and totally forget the actors OR I can watch any movie an actor I love is playing in.
I'm usually more interested in the story because even if I watch a movie with an actor I love, I will critisize the story as well.

| Yeah, when Hugh Grant was younger he was so adorable (I often thought back in the 90's he resembled Alyosha a little ) , I could watch just about anything with him even if he did some silly films, but when he went Hollywood and started doing really lowblow, mindless junks it was just too much beyond the limitation of good tastes, I passed on quite a few films he has done. | |

| I couldn't say I have *A* favorite actor ever. But there are movies I can watch like a thousand time and still love them. | |

Oh me too... for example Stand By Me A Fish Called Wanda Dead Poets Society Princess Bride Back to the Future (the original) Wayne's World (the original) and so on... (I do have a particular liking for many of the 80's films as you can see! ) Julie, what I did to get used to Italian language is, to watch these favourite films translated in Italian. As I had pretty much memorized the dialogues already, I could pick up many of the Italian equivalent of cool-casual phrases/expressions which you would use every day. Perhaps you can do the same with Russian!!

| I tried Licia but I find it difficult to find movies in Russian (even Doctor Zhivago & Anna Karenina aren't!). I have the Russian subtitles but I have to pause the movie at every line because I still have hard to read the cyrillic alphabet.
For the movies I love, it's: * Clash of the Titans. * The Sound of Music. * Young Sherlock Holmes. * Mickey's Christmas. * Anastasia.
